Shooting: A 30-year-old man suffered two gunshot wounds to his back Tuesday night on North Westfield Avenue. The victim told police he was walking to his house when he heard the gunshots and then saw a masked suspect pointing a gun at him. The victim said he engaged the gunman to wrestle the weapon away from him, but lost consciousness during the fight. The victim was rushed into emergency surgery and remains in stable condition. No arrests have been made at this time.
Elementary Theft: Mark Young, 51, was arrested early Wednesday morning after he allegedly stole a laptop computer from a city school. Officials say cops were dispatched to Luis Munoz-Rivera Elementary School in the 400 block of North Montgomery Street after receiving a commercial burglary alarm around 2:40 a.m. While en route, officials say, cops saw Young walking away from that area, so they stopped him. During the investigation, police allegedly found Young in possession of a laptop computer that was labeled as property of Trenton Public Schools. Young is charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia because he allegedly had a glass pipe in his pocket.
Heroin and Pills: Harold Arzayus, 29, was arrested after police allegedly found six decks of heroin, seven Oxycodone pills and a gram of marijuana during a traffic stop on South Cook Avenue. Officials say detectives initially stopped Arzayus for driving a car that has darkly tinted windows. During the investigation, they saw drugs in plain view inside the car. Arzayus refused to exit the car, officials say, but after a brief struggle he was arrested. Police also seized $1,849 from him as suspected proceeds from drug sales.
Domestic Violence: Tyrone Jones, 35, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his exgirlfriend Monday night. Officials say Jones burglarized the woman’s Colonial Avenue home and assaulted her before fleeing. The woman reported the incident to police, but refused medical attention. Warrants were issued for Jones’ arrest after the assault, and cops found him Tuesday night. Jones is charged with assault, burglary, criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child because two kids were in the home at the time of the assault.
Shoplifting: Tom Rosado, 41, of Trenton, was arrested for allegedly stealing $125 worth of merchandise from ShopRite on North Olden Avenue.
Rental Scam: Someone changed the locks on a vacant residence on Pennington Road and advertised it for rent, even though they are not authorized to do so. Another person answered the add, paid money and moved in, according to police who say the incident is under investigation.
Burglary: Assorted jewelry was stolen out of a house on Bradway Avenue. Officials say the suspect gained entry through an unsecured window.
Shoplifting Too: Darrell Coasey, 40, of Trenton, was arrested for allegedly stealing $39 worth of merchandise from Forman Mills on North Olden Avenue.
Theft from Auto: An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen out of a car that was parked on Kinney Drive.
Another Theft: David Williams, 61, of Trenton, was arrested for allegedly stealing $48 worth of merchandise from Forman Mills.
