Trenton Police promotions

The Trentonian (Trenton, NJ) - - OPINION -

Calling about Trenton police. Once again, we have we have promoted demoted and promoted again. If we spent as much time focusing on keeping the beautiful capital of New Jersey a safe city as we do playing political games within our Trenton Police Department, there would be less crime on our streets. And would someone please give me the definition of nepotism. I seem to have lost my Funk and Wagnalls. — A reader

I’m a Merriam-Webster guy myself because Funk and Wagnalls website isn’t as good. M-W.com says, “favoritism (as in appointment to a job) based on kinship.”

As far as the staff moves, that’s pretty standard in all police departments to promote within and hire new officers at starting positions because of retirements.
