Trenton cops bust up attempted liquor heist at South Rio
TRENTON » Two men who tried to jack thousands of dollars in alcohol got bottled up by the cops as they tried to make a brazen escape out a back door.
It happened shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday when cops responded to the South Rio bar on the 100 block of South Warren Street.
A dispatcher was told several people were seen on a camera inside the building. Multiple cruisers surrounded the bar as cops set up a perimeter and brought in a police dog to sweep the bar.
Inside they found Martin Dockery, 41, and Corry Tucker, 43, who tried to escape through a back door. They were ordered at gunpoint to stop and put in handcuffs.
Cops discovered huge garbage buckets full of alcohol bottles the two men planned to steal.
Police discovered the locked-up liquor room had been pilfered, although it was unclear how the two men got inside.
More bottles were found stacked in boxes as cops estimated the two attempted to steal $10,000 worth of liquor.
Both were charged with burglary, theft and possession of burglar tools in connection with the attempted alcohol heist.
