A Kaleidoscope Of Spring Colors

The Washington Post Sunday - - Metro -

Cherry blossoms and kites turned Washington’s gray and granite monumental core into a swarm of purples, pinks and rainbows yesterday.

The coinciding of the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s opening and the annual Smithsonian Kite Festival brought tens of thousands to the Mall, where streamers fluttered and a river of machine-made bubbles widened children’s eyes.

Cherry blossoms are expected to be at peak bloom today. The festival will run until April 15.
