Around the World in Four Hours
Learn about other countries — including kid-friendly native crafts — Saturday at the International Children’s Festival hosted by Meridian International Center. This is the place to be if you have an upcoming social studies paper on a foreign land.
Sixteen embassies will have booths at the festival: Australia, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Finland, France, Ghana, Indonesia, Korea, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, The Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Senegal.
Hands-on activities include stamp-making (from Liechtenstein), paper-cutting (China) and writing in Sinhalese (a language spoken in Sri Lanka).
The activities are geared to elementary-school students. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $5 per person. For more information: 202-939-5514.
