Man killed after car crashes on Beltway
A 30-year-old Virginia man was killed on the Capital Beltway Saturday morning when he lost control of his car, which overturned and hit a light pole, according to the Maryland State Police.
Police say Davon Michael Cruz of Fairfax was southbound on Interstate 95 near the exit for Powder Mill Road in Beltsville about 8 a.m. when he lost control of his 2005 Nissan Maxima and traveled off the left side of the road. A dozen firefighters and paramedics tried to rescue Cruz, who was trapped in the wreckage, according to the Prince George’s fire department. Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say alcohol and drugs did not appear to have contributed to the crash.
