John R. Carson
John R. Carson, 72, director of governmental affairs for what is nowthe AmericanPodiatricMedical Association, died Dec. 24 at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md., of complications from ulcer surgery.
Mr. Carsonworkedfor the association from 1969 until he retired in the late 1990s.
He was born John Robert Carson in St. Joseph, Mo., and graduated from what is now known as Midland University in Fremont, Neb., in 1956. He received a master’s degree in political science from Drake University in Des Moines in 1958.
He moved to the Washington region in 1969 and had been a Hagerstown resident since 2002.
He was a member of the Exchange Club ofHagerstown.
His wife of 50 years, Janet Petersen Carson, died in 2007.
Survivors include two children, John W. Carson of Hagerstown and Paul Carson of Manassas; a sister; two granddaughters.
