Sona Watson, 78, a sales associate at J. J.’s Hallmark Shop in Springfield from 1991 to 2000, died Dec. 8 at a hospice in the Villages, Fla. She had lung cancer.
Earlier in her career she was as assistant manager at O’Brien’s Pit Barbecue in Springfield.
She was born Sona Panossian in Washington and was a 1950 graduate of the old Central High School. She had been a Springfield resident from 1960 until she retired to the Villages in 2000.
Her marriage to John Watson ended in divorce.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Watson of Sumter, S.C., and Lisa Garner of Newport News, Va.; a brother; a sister; and three grandchildren.
