Sona Wat­son, 78, a sales as­so­ci­ate at J. J.’s Hall­mark Shop in Spring­field from 1991 to 2000, died Dec. 8 at a hospice in the Vil­lages, Fla. She had lung can­cer.

Ear­lier in her ca­reer she was as as­sis­tant man­ager at O’Brien’s Pit Bar­be­cue in Spring­field.

She was born Sona Panos­sian in Washington and was a 1950 grad­u­ate of the old Cen­tral High School. She had been a Spring­field res­i­dent from 1960 un­til she re­tired to the Vil­lages in 2000.

Her mar­riage to John Wat­son ended in divorce.

Sur­vivors in­clude two daugh­ters, Karen Wat­son of Sumter, S.C., and Lisa Garner of New­port News, Va.; a brother; a sis­ter; and three grand­chil­dren.
