Kimberly Scheetz & Brian Cera

The Washington Post Sunday - - ARTS & STYLE - — Ellen McCarthy

Kimberly Scheetz, 25, works in the insurance department of a home medical services firm. Brian Cera, 29, is a graphic designer. They live in Frederick.

Wedding date: Dec. 18.

Location: The Castle at Maryvale in Brooklandville, Md.

How they met: Kim and Brian grew up in Poolsville and attended the same high school, though he was a senior when she was a freshman. In February 2008, Kim’s friends dragged her to a local bar, where she reconnected with Brian. “We’ve been inseparable ever since,” she says.

The proposal: Their first date was at a Carrabba’s Italian Grill in Frederick. To pop the question in January 2009, Brian took Kim back to the restaurant and sat in the same booth. Brian had designed a menu in advance that looked just like the real one but was filled with notes about all the reasons he loved Kim. At the bottom were the words, “Will You Marry Me?”

The wedding: Kim and Brian wanted a winter wedding that evoked a Jack Frost wonderland. Their ceremony took place on a back terrace surrounded by arrangements of birch tree branches, pine cones and votive candles. The reception room was decorated with silvery-blue tablecloths and tall, white centerpieces.

Honeymoon: The couple spent the holidays with their families before flying to Mexico.
