Prince George’s County police are investigating an automobile crash that killed a Brandywine man late Friday.

The crash occurred about 10:20 p.m. on Old Alexandria Ferry Road near Ferry Avenue in Clinton. Police said Justin Brooks, 28, of the 13600 block of Tower Road, was westbound on Old Alexandria Ferry Road in a 1993 Subaru Legacy when he was struck head-on by an eastbound driver in a 2003 Ford Explorer. Police said the driver of the Ford Explorer crossed into Brooks’s lane while attempting to pass a driver ahead of him, whom he believed was going too slow. Brooks was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. A passenger in his vehicle was in serious condition, according to Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a spokesman for the Prince George’s County police department.

Copeland said charges are pending against the driver of the Ford Explorer. His name was not released.
