WHAT TO DO

Bars and nightclubs in and near Sodermalm: This trendy neighborhood is the thumping heart of the Stockholm music scene, thanks to its intimate bars ( Indigo, Gotgatan 19; Nada, Asogatan 140; Pet Sounds Bar, Skanegatan 80;

Snotty, Skanegatan 90) and its inviting nightclubs ( Debaser Medis, Medborgarplatsen 8; Sodra Teatern, Mosebacke 1; Strand, Hornstull Strand 4). You’ll have to cross a bridge to visit the original Debaser Slussen nightclub at Karl Johans Torg 1 in the Slussen neighborhood — home of Elisabeth Salander, novelist Steig Larsson’s “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.”

Bars and nightclubs in Stureplan: Things can get pretty posh in the Stureplan neighborhood, but check out

Riche at Birger Jarlsgatan 4 — and be sure to use the door on the right. (The left is an always-mobbed restaurant of the same name.) After that, head over to the stunning Berns Salonger at Berzelii Park 103, Stockholm’s most resplendent music venue.
