Man fa­tally shot out­side night­club

A man was shot to death in the park­ing lot of a Prince Ge­orge’s County meet­ing hall early Satur­day, the 16th homi­cide of the year for the county.

The vic­tim’s name and age were not im­me­di­ately re­leased. No sus­pects were in cus­tody, po­lice said.

The shoot­ing hap­pened about 3:30 a.m. out­side Plaza 23 Event Cen­ter on St. Barn­abas Road in Tem­ple Hills, Prince Ge­orge’s Cpl. Evan Bax­ter said. A con­cert by the pop­u­lar go-go group the TCB Band had just ended, and a crowd of peo­ple was in the park­ing lot of the hall.

Bax­ter said he did not know how or why an al­ter­ca­tion broke out, but he said in­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve that 50 to 100 peo­ple were present when the man was shot in the up­per body. He was taken to a hos­pi­tal and pro­nounced dead.

Po­lice were ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses to the shoot­ing to con­tact them, and Bax­ter stressed that callers to 1-866-411-TIPS (8677) can re­main anony­mous.
