Ox­ford Amer­i­can mag­a­zine of­fers a writ­ing work­shop

The Ox­ford Amer­i­can, a lit­er­ary mag­a­zine that pub­lishes South­ern-fo­cused writ­ing, is ac­cept­ing ap­pli­ca­tions for its first Ox­ford Amer­i­can Sum­mit for Am­bi­tious Writ­ers.

The sum­mit, a part­ner­ship with the Winthrop Rock­e­feller In­sti­tute, will be a five-day work­shop for writ­ers to build their lit­er­ary skills.

The event will be held June 21-26 at Petit Jean Moun­tain in cen­tral Arkansas. Lit­er­ary pro­fes­sion­als will teach daily writ­ing classes and of­fer man­u­script cri­tiques, and guest lec­tur­ers will con­cen­trate on short fic­tion and cre­ative non­fic­tion.

Ap­pli­ca­tions will be ac­cepted through May 1. Tu­ition is $1,000; board varies from $550 for dou­ble-oc­cu­pancy to $700 for sin­gle rooms. Schol­ar­ships are avail­able. For in­for­ma­tion: sum­mit.ox­for­damer­i­can.org.
