Paul­son & Co. re­port­edly made more than $1 bil­lion on its Cit­i­group in­vest­ment in the past 18 months. John Paul­son, who runs the $35.9 bil­lion hedge fund, earned $5 bil­lion last year, with ma­jor gains from a stake in gold. N.Y. Mets own­ers were ex­plor­ing a par­tial sale of team to raise sev­eral hun­dred mil­lion dol­lars. The own­ers are un­der pres­sure from a law­suit from a trustee try­ing to re­claim money for the vic­tims of the BernardMad­off scan­dal. Gold­man Sachs gave CEO Lloyd Blank­fein a com­pen­sa­tion pack­age worth $13.2 mil­lion in 2010.
