Schoof’s three-point­ers pace Ea­gles

John Schoof scored 24 points and Stephen Lump­kins recorded his 10th dou­ble-dou­ble of the sea­son as Amer­i­can de­feated Col­gate, 70-55, on Satur­day at Ben­der Arena.

Schoof en­tered as a 50 per­cent three-point shooter. He hit 5 of 8 from long range and has at least one three-pointer in seven con­sec­u­tive games for the Ea­gles (9-14, 4-4 Pa­triot League).

Lump­kins scored 10 points and grabbed 10 re­bounds. Daniel Munoz hit 9 of 10 free throws and scored 13 points while Tony Wrob­licky had 11 points and nine re­bounds.

Bran­don James paced the Raiders (9-16, 3-5) with 18 points off the bench.

Col­gate took a 26-25 lead shortly af­ter half­time and the game was tied at 36 with 13 min­utes left.

Wrob­licky snapped that tie with a jumper to spark a 16-2 run that in­cluded two three-point­ers and a layup from Schoof.

HOWARD 63, MARY­LAND EAST­ERN-SHORE 44: Mike Phillips scored 21 points and Tre Lee added 18 for the Bi­son (6-18, 3-7 Mid-East­ern Ath­letic Con­fer­ence) at home.

Howard forced the Hawks (1-18, 1-7) into 26.7 per­cent shoot­ing (16 for 60). The Hawks also made 9 of 16 free throws.

LAFAYETTE 70, NAVY 47: The vis­it­ing Leop­ards (12-13, 5-3 Pa­triot League) led by at least 20 points for most of the sec­ond half against the Mid­ship­men (7-17, 1-7). Worth Smith was the only Navy player to score in dou­ble fig­ures, fin­ish­ing with 13 points. Hoyas women fall

Bri­ana Brown made two three­p­oint­ers in over­time as St. John’s de­feated Ge­orge­town, 76-72, in a Big East women’s game in Queens. The game was tied at 65 fol­low­ing a bas­ket by Shen­neika Smith, off an as­sist from Brown, with 18 sec­onds left in reg­u­la­tion.

The Hoyas (13-10, 4-6) missed a po­ten­tial win­ning shot with one sec­ond left in reg­u­la­tion.

Sugar Rodgers fin­ished with 29 points and six re­bounds for Ge­orge­town. Do­minique Vi­talis added 21 points and 11 re­bounds.

Smith fin­ished with 26 points for the Red Storm (11-10, 5-4).

The game be­gan later than sched­uled be­cause of heavy snow.

NAVY 60, LAFAYETTE 52: Jade Geif had seven points, two re­bounds and a steal in over­time as the Mid­ship­men (14-9, 7-1) won on the road. The first half was a de­fen­sive strug­gle: Navy made 6 of 26 shots (23 per­cent) but held the Leop­ards to 10 for 32 (31 per­cent).

Emily Hol­man had 12 points for Lafayette (10-13, 3-5).

AMER­I­CAN 69, COL­GATE 44: Three Ea­gles scored in dou­ble fig­ures in the road win. Stephanie Anya posted a game-high 14 points; Geleisa Ge­orge and Ar­ron Zim­mer­man matched their ca­reer marks with 13 apiece.

The vic­tory put Coach Matt Cork­ery one win from 100 for his ca­reer. Should the Ea­gles (13-9, 6-2 Pa­triot League) win against Le­high on Wed­nes­day, he will be­come the fastest coach in con­fer­ence his­tory to reach the mark.

Re­serve Josie Stockill had 10 points for the Raiders (6-17, 0-8).

HOWARD 59, MARY­LANDEASTERN SHORE 30: Cheyenne Cur­ley-Payne had 17 points and seven re­bounds as the Lady Bi­son (13-9, 7-3 MEAC) won at home. Jamee­lah Pickard had six points for the Hawks (6-13, 2-6).

Howard held UMES to 19 per­cent shoot­ing (9 for 47).
