Lan­g­ley Park, D.C. killings probed

Prince Ge­orge’s County po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a slay­ing in Lan­g­ley Park, the county’s sixth homi­cide since Mon­day.

About 5 a.m. Satur­day, of­fi­cers were called to the 8100 block of Riggs Road on a report of a man down. They found an adult male with stab wounds to his up­per body, po­lice said. The vic­tim was pro­nounced dead on the scene, po­lice said.

In sep­a­rate homi­cides in the District, two men were shot in the head, ac­cord­ing to D.C. po­lice of­fi­cials. De­tec­tives have charged a man in one of the slay­ings.

In the first case, po­lice were called about 1 a.m. to the 1900 block of Ninth Street NW, near the Shaw Metro stop. A man po­lice iden­ti­fied as Joseph Hardin, 30, of Alexan­dria had been shot in the head and was found un­con­scious and not breath­ing, of­fi­cials said.

Nearby, pa­trol of­fi­cers im­medi- ately ap­pre­hended a sus­pect, Cedric Spicer, 24, of North­west Washington, said Hugh Carew, a po­lice spokesman. Spicer was charged with first-de­gree mur­der, Carew said. Spicer and Hardin ap­par­ently had got­ten into an al­ter­ca­tion ei­ther in­side or out­side a club in the neigh­bor­hood, Carew said.

In the sec­ond D.C. case, about 3 a.m. Satur­day, po­lice were called to in­ves­ti­gate the sounds of gun­shots in the 300 block of Liv­ingston Ter­race SE, near the county line with Prince Ge­orge’s. A man there, iden­ti­fied as Da­mon Luke Brown, 49, of Ash­burn, had been shot sev­eral times, in­clud­ing at least once in the head, ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cials.

Ini­tial po­lice re­ports said de­tec­tives were look­ing for three pos­si­ble sus­pects.
