From the tip, Hawks hand it to the Colonials
philadelphia — Langston Galloway scored a season-high 26 points to lead Saint Joseph’s to a 71-59 victory over George Washington on Saturday in Atlantic 10 action.
The Hawks (15-10, 6-6) scored the game’s first 12 points, then took an early 20-2 lead. Despite a 9-0 run later in the half by the Colonials (12-13, 6-6), the Hawks led 40-29 at the break.
In the second half, George Washington scored five straight points to cut the deficit to 59-52. But Galloway hit a three-pointer and the Hawks led by double figures the rest of the way.
Galloway’s season-high point total came on 10-of-17 shooting from the floor. He shot 6 of 9 on three-pointers.
Carl Jones scored 15 points for Saint Joseph’s. C. J. Aiken added 13 and Halil Kanacevic grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Isaiah Armwood led George Washington with 14 points. Lasan Kromah added 13 and Patricio Garino had 10.
The Colonials are back in action on Wednesday at Richmond, and play their second-to-last home game of the season Saturday against Saint Louis.
