From the tip, Hawks hand it to the Colo­nials

philadel­phia — Langston Gal­loway scored a sea­son-high 26 points to lead Saint Joseph’s to a 71-59 vic­tory over Ge­orge Washington on Satur­day in At­lantic 10 ac­tion.

The Hawks (15-10, 6-6) scored the game’s first 12 points, then took an early 20-2 lead. De­spite a 9-0 run later in the half by the Colo­nials (12-13, 6-6), the Hawks led 40-29 at the break.

In the sec­ond half, Ge­orge Washington scored five straight points to cut the deficit to 59-52. But Gal­loway hit a three-pointer and the Hawks led by dou­ble fig­ures the rest of the way.

Gal­loway’s sea­son-high point to­tal came on 10-of-17 shoot­ing from the floor. He shot 6 of 9 on three-point­ers.

Carl Jones scored 15 points for Saint Joseph’s. C. J. Aiken added 13 and Halil Kanace­vic grabbed a game-high 10 re­bounds.

Isa­iah Arm­wood led Ge­orge Washington with 14 points. Lasan Kromah added 13 and Pa­tri­cio Garino had 10.

The Colo­nials are back in ac­tion on Wed­nes­day at Rich­mond, and play their sec­ond-to-last home game of the sea­son Satur­day against Saint Louis.
