Griner leads No. 1 Baylor past Texas
Brittney Griner scored 30 points to spark No. 1 Baylor to an easy 67-47 victory over visiting Texas on Saturday.
Griner outscored the Longhorns by herself in the first half, pouring in 20 of the Lady Bears’ 30 points. She finished with 11 rebounds and five blocks.
Baylor (26-1, 15-0 Big 12) finished the first half with an 11-2 run for a 30-16 lead in its 24th consecutive victory. The Lady Bears extended a pair of record streaks to 54 straight home wins and 37 in a row in conference. All three streaks are the longest in the nation.
Chassidy Fussell led Texas (10-16, 3-12) with 16 points.
CONNECTICUT 90, SETON HALL 30: Kelly Faris and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis each scored 18 points to help the No. 3 Huskies pummel the Pirates in Storrs, Conn.
The pair also both reached the 1,000-point plateau for their careers.
Connecticut (25-2, 12-1 Big East) earned its 400th Big East win under Coach Geno Auriemma. The win was the 29th straight for the Huskies over Seton Hall (9-18, 4-10).
ST. JOHN’S 61, RUTGERS 48: In New York, Nadirah McKenith scored 21 points for the Red Storm (15-10, 9-4 Big East), which kept Scarlet Knights Coach C. Vivian Stringer from her 900th career win. Rutgers (14-12, 5-8) has lost four in a row and is in danger of missing the NCAA tournament for the first time in 11 seasons.
