Astros: All-star 2B Jose Al­tuve missed the game against the Mariners with a ham­string in­jury. He said he doesn’t think the in­jury is se­ri­ous. Al­tuve, who won the bat­ting ti­tle last sea­son, is hit­ting .290 with five homers and 27 RBI for first­place Hous­ton.

In­di­ans: Cleve­land ac­ti­vated RHP Scott Atchi­son from the DL. Atchi­son had been out since May 28 with a sprained an­kle. He is 1-1 with a 5.74 ERA in 19 games this sea­son.

Mets: New York reac­quired OF Kirk Nieuwen­huis from waivers less than a month af­ter trad­ing him to the An­gels. Nieuwen­huis ap­peared in 27 games for the Mets, bat­ting .079 (3 for 38), be­fore be­ing des­ig­nated for as­sign­ment.

Roy­als: LHP Ja­son Var­gas was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained left fore­arm.

Twins: Top prospect By­ron Bux­ton was called up to the ma­jor leagues. Min­nesota an­nounced its plan to se­lect Bux­ton’s con­tract from Class AA Chat­tanooga; he will be in uni­form Sun­day for the fi­nale of a three-game se­ries in Texas. In Chat­tanooga, Bux­ton hit .283 with seven dou­bles, 12 triples and six home runs. He also had 20 stolen bases and 37 RBI.
