His best mo­ment in that dis­tance came at Penn Re­lays, when he split 45.71 sec­onds in the pre­lim­i­nary round. Lyles ran 47.41 to win the Vir­ginia 6A state meet; it also was good for 39th in the na­tion. Lyles broke the Vir­ginia 6A North re­gion record in the 200 pre­vi­ously held by his brother Noah in 21.12. Jose­phus ran 21.02 in the 200 at the state meet, which ranks sev­enth na­tion­ally. Lyles ran the an­chor on both of the Ti­tans’ 400- and 1,600-me­ter re­lay teams at Penn Re­lays.
