One killed in blast at Ital­ian Con­sulate in Egypt’s cap­i­tal:

A car bomb ripped into the Ital­ian Con­sulate in Cairo, killing one per­son in the most sig­nif­i­cant at­tack yet on for­eign in­ter­ests in Egypt as mil­i­tants tar­get the na­tion’s se­cu­rity forces. A group call­ing it­self the Is­lamic State in Egypt as­serted re­spon­si­bil­ity for the blast in a mes­sage cir­cu­lated on so­cial media. Italy said the con­sulate was closed at the time. The blast killed a passerby and wounded eight peo­ple, the In­te­rior Min­istry said.
