Baltimore rally draws supporters of police
A rally was held Saturday at City Hall in Baltimore to support the city’s police.
Demonstrators wore T-shirts or carried signs saying “Blue Lives Matter.”
A tweet posted by a reporter for the Baltimore Sun said many demonstrators were retired officers or relatives of officers.
The Baltimore department has been described as demoralized since events that followed the death of Freddie Gray, a black man who died after he was injured while in police custody.
Six officers have been charged in the death. Other officers have been described as believing that they have not received adequate support from top city officials.
