As the mountain burns, rain begins to fall

The Washington Post Sunday - - POLITICS & THE NATION -

Los Angeles County firefighters battle a wildfire in the hills near Wrightwood, Calif., late into Friday night. On Saturday, pockets of rain hit the Los Angeles area and temperatures fell, helping to keep the 3,500acre fire from spreading. “Things look so much better,” said Bob Poole of the U.S. Forest Service. On Friday, the fire jumped over Interstate 15, destroying 20 vehicles and trapping people stuck in traffic. In nearby Baldy Mesa, three homes burned and 44 vehicles were damaged.
