Ath­let­ics: RHP Jesse Hahn, side­lined since July 6 with a strained right fore­arm, will re­ceive a platelet-rich plasma in­jec­tion Tues­day and has been shut down in­def­i­nitely. Be­cause he has had a pre­vi­ous Tommy John re­con­struc­tive el­bow surgery, the A’s are be­ing es­pe­cially cau­tious.

Red Sox: Ac­cord­ing to an ESPNBos­ton.com re­port, RHP Clay Buch­holz said he in­tends to see Dr. James An­drews on Wed­nes­day for a sec­ond opin­ion on the strained flexor mus­cle in his fore­arm. Buch­holz, cur­rently on the 15-day dis­abled list, last pitched on Sun­day be­fore the al­ls­tar break. He said he suf­fered the in­jury play­ing catch on July 8, two days be­fore he made that start.

Twins: OF Torii Hunter cel­e­brated his 40th birth­day on Satur­day. Hunter joins Red Sox RHP Koji Ue­hara, Blue Jays RHP R.A. Dickey, Mar­lins OF Ichiro Suzuki, Mets RHP Bar­tolo Colon and Rock­ies RHPs Rafael Be­tan­court and LaTroy Hawkins among the ac­tive play­ers who are 40 and older.
