Athletics: RHP Jesse Hahn, sidelined since July 6 with a strained right forearm, will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection Tuesday and has been shut down indefinitely. Because he has had a previous Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, the A’s are being especially cautious.
Red Sox: According to an ESPNBoston.com report, RHP Clay Buchholz said he intends to see Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday for a second opinion on the strained flexor muscle in his forearm. Buchholz, currently on the 15-day disabled list, last pitched on Sunday before the allstar break. He said he suffered the injury playing catch on July 8, two days before he made that start.
Twins: OF Torii Hunter celebrated his 40th birthday on Saturday. Hunter joins Red Sox RHP Koji Uehara, Blue Jays RHP R.A. Dickey, Marlins OF Ichiro Suzuki, Mets RHP Bartolo Colon and Rockies RHPs Rafael Betancourt and LaTroy Hawkins among the active players who are 40 and older.
White Sox: Chicago celebrated the 10-year anniversary of its 2005 World Series-winning team before Saturday afternoon’s game against the Royals.
