Nats explain outage
The Nationals released a statement Saturday morning in which they identified a “faulty circuit breaker” as the cause for the power outage that forced the suspension of Friday night’s game.
“Our initial investigation indicates the power failure at Nationals Park last night was caused by a faulty circuit breaker,” the team said through a spokesman. “It was replaced shortly after midnight and the lights were tested throughout the night with no additional outages. While we believe we have identified and corrected the issue, additional tests are being conducted by the manufacturer of the field lighting system.”
Friday night’s game was the first in Nationals history to be suspended for a reason other than weather.
The Nationals said they had no reason to believe the outage was related to the Taylor Swift concerts held at the ballpark earlier in the week.
