With police, don’t ask for trouble
Regarding the July 23 editorial “Why did Sandra Bland die in jail?”:
I am white and the father of four sons who are now adults. From the beginning I always taught them that if they were involved with a police officer to do what was told or asked of them and to keep their mouths shut because the law enforcement official has far more power than they do.
The Texas officer who pulled over Sandra Bland may have been a bully and unprofessional, but why did Ms. Bland insist on ignoring his requests and demands, curse him and threaten him with legal action?
