The Washington Post Sunday - - COMMUTER - — Clarence Williams and Martin Weil

Two brothers who disappeared while swimming off the Southern Maryland shore are presumed to have drowned, authorities said. The body of one was recovered Saturday evening, the Calvert County sheriff ’s office said.

The two went under while swimming off Cove Point beach on the Chesapeake Bay in the Lusby area Friday night, the sheriff ’s office said.

They were identified as Daniel J. Brown, 37, of Lusby, and his brother Douglas H. Brown, 39, of Mechanicsville, Md. It was not immediately clear whose body was found.

The sheriff ’s office said the men apparently entered deep water and became tired after swimming against the strong tide. A juvenile who was with them made it back to shore and alerted authorities, prompting a search, the sheriff ’s office said.
