Jayson Werth and Ryan Zim­mer­man played in mi­nor league re­hab games Satur­day and are both near­ing a re­turn to the Na­tion­als.

“They’re get­ting there,” Wil­liams said. “They’re close.”

Werth played left field and went 3 for 4 for Class AAA Syra­cuse, while Zim­mer­man played first base and went 0 for 4 for Class AA Har­ris­burg.

Werth, who has missed more than two months with left wrist frac­tures, played his eighth re­hab game, while Zim­mer­man, who has missed more than a month with left plan­tar fasci­itis, played his fifth.

In other in­jury news, righthander Stephen Stras­burg played catch Satur­day and had no is­sues the day af­ter a live bullpen ses­sion. Wil­liams said the next step for Stras­burg, who is re­turn­ing from an oblique strain, is to make a re­hab start Wed­nes­day.

First base­man-out­fielder Clint Robin­son was back in the lineup Satur­day af­ter he was scratched Fri­day with an ill­ness.
