Giolito to Harrisburg
Right-hander Lucas Giolito, the Nationals’ top prospect, was promoted to Harrisburg.
The hard-throwing 21-yearold posted a 2.71 ERA in 13 appearances for Class A Potomac.
Giolito was the Nationals’ first-round pick in 2012 and underwent Tommy John surgery that year. Some within the organization think he could be in the major leagues by next season, when the Nationals could be without impending free agents Jordan Zimmermann and Doug Fister.
Starters John Simms and Matt Purke also were promoted to Harrisburg.
