Owls im­prove their record to 5-0 for the first time in 41 years

Ja­had Thomas and Ryquell Arm­stead scored two touch­downs apiece, and Tem­ple re­mained un­beaten with a 49-10 vic­tory over Tu­lane on Satur­day in Philadelphia.

The Owls (5-0, 2-0 Amer­i­can) are off to their first 5-0 start since 1974 af­ter end­ing a two-game win­ning streak for the Green Wave (2-3, 1-1).

Thomas ran 10 yards to give Tem­ple a 14-10 lead in the sec­ond quar­ter and added a 16-yard scor­ing catch from P. J. Walker for a

21-10 half­time lead.

Arm­stead, mak­ing his first start, added a pair of 16-yard touch­down runs in the third quar­ter, sand­wiched around Sean Chan­dler’s 22-yard in­ter­cep­tion re­turn for a score.

Walker hit 11 of 15 passes for 183 yards.

lWISCONSIN 23, NE­BRASKA 21: Rafael Gaglianone made a 46yard field goal with four sec­onds left af­ter miss­ing from 39 yards just more than a minute ear­lier, giv­ing the Badgers (4-2, 1-1 Big Ten) a win over the Corn­huskers (2-4, 0-2) in Lin­coln, Neb.

All four of Ne­braska’s losses have come on its op­po­nent’s fi­nal of­fen­sive play.

lWASHINGTON STATE 45, ORE­GON 38 (2OT): Luke Falk threw for 505 yards and five touch­downs to lead theCougars(3-2, 1-1Pa­cific12) over the Ducks (3-3, 1-2) in Eu­gene, Ore.

Washington State had lost eight straight games to Ore­gon.

lPENN STATE 29, IN­DI­ANA 7: Chris­tian Hack­en­berg threw for 262 yards and two touch­down passes and also ran for two touch­downs as the Nit­tany Lions (5-1, 2-0 Big Ten) beat the vis­it­ingHoosiers (4-2, 0-2) in State Col­lege, Pa.

Hack­en­berg­was21 of39and­hit Briar Woods grad­u­ate Bran­don Polk and DaeSean Hamil­ton on 39-yard scor­ing strikes.
