TD-heavy CAA clash lives up to Game Day
harrisonburg, va. — Jacobi Green ran for 236 yards on 27 carries and scored five touchdowns to help lead visiting Richmond to a 59-49 win over undefeated James Madison, which had been given the rare opportunity to host ESPN’s College Game Day program as a Football Championship Subdivision school.
The loss snapped the Dukes’ school-record 14 game regular season winning streak.
Kyle Lauletta threw for 415 yards and two touchdowns and Brian Brown added 204 yards receiving for Richmond (6-1, 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association).
Bryan Schor’s seven-yard TD pass to Rashard Davis cut the Dukes’ deficit to 52-49 with 4 minutes 2 seconds left. But Richmond responded on the ensuing possession, driving 69 yards on four plays capped by a Green one-yard scoring run, pushing the lead back to 10.
A James Madison fumble by Cardon Johnson on the following kickoff sealed the game for Richmond.
V ad Lee threw for 294 yards, ran for 124, and had five scores for James Madison (7-1, 4-1).
Jeremiah Hamlin, above, took a back seat to Jacobi Green, who ran for five Spiders scores.
