Mets’ Harvey set for Game 1

The Washington Post Sunday - - WASHINGTONPOST.COM/SPORTS -

Matt Harvey was chosen to pitch for the New York Mets in the World Series opener at Kansas City on Tuesday night.

Mets Manager Terry Collins announced his rotation Saturday, when the team worked out at Citi Field. Jacob de Grom will start Game 2 at Kauffman Stadium, followed by rookies Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz when the best-ofseven series shifts to New York.

Collins says the Mets wanted to give de Grom an extra day of rest and they like going into Kansas City with their top two starters. They also feel good about Syndergaard pitching at home, where he has been most successful.

Collins said Harvey could be available out of the bullpen in a potential Game 7.
