Oprah Win­frey en­tered into an en­dorse­ment deal with Weight Watch­ers In­ter­na­tional, in which the former talk show host ac­quired a 10 per­cent stake in the com­pany for $43.2 mil­lion. She will also join the Weight Watch­ers board.

Yum Brands said it in­tended to split off its China busi­ness, which has been be­sieged by food scan­dals and mar­ket­ing mis­steps, bow­ing to pres­sure from an ac­tivist share­holder.

Western Dig­i­tal, the maker of hard-disk drives, said it would buy SanDisk for about $19 bil­lion, giv­ing it bet­ter ac­cess to flash mem­ory stor­age chips used in smart­phones and mobile de­vices.
