Cline has double-double as Spiders turn back visiting Colonials
RICHMOND 84, GWU 75
T.J. Cline scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead host Richmond past George Washington, 84-75, on Saturday.
Cline notched his 10th doubledouble this season after shooting 8 for 12 from the floor, 3 for 5 from three-point range and making 7 of 8 free throws.
Khwan Fore added 24 points and Shawndre’ Jones 17 for the Spiders (14-9, 8-3 Atlantic 10), who shot 56 percent and have won three of their past four.
Tyler Cavanaugh had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Colonials (12-11, 4-6).
Cline scored 16 points and Fore 15 in the first half, when Richmond took a 46-34 lead.
VCU 83, ST. BONAVENTURE 77 (OT): Mo Alie-Cox scored 20 points, JeQuan Lewis sank a clutch free throw to force overtime and the Rams slipped past the Bonnies in Saint Bonaventure, N.Y.
Leading most of the game, Virginia Commonwealth (18-5, 8-2 Atlantic 10) fell behind with just half a second left in regulation when Matt Mobley sank a stepback three-pointer to put St. Bonaventure on top, 66-65. But the Bonnies (14-8, 6-4) were assessed a technical foul when their student section stormed the court and Lewis hit the ensuing shot to force overtime.
In the extra period, Jonathan Williams made a three-point play to put VCU ahead for good, 71-68.
Justin Tillman added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Rams. Mobley finished with 34 points and set a St. Bonaventure record with nine three-pointers.
GEORGE MASON 95, LA SALLE 75: Senior Marquise Moore scored a career-high 28 points as the Patriots romped to victory at home.
Jaire Graye added 22 points, for George Mason (15-8, 5-5 Atlantic 10), which shot 63 percent.
Jordan Price scored 21 points to lead the Explorers (12-9, 6-4).
LEHIGH 70, AMERICAN 55: Kahron Ross scored 19 points, and Tim Kempton added 15 points and 12 rebounds as the visiting Mountain Hawks (13-10, 7-5 Patriot League) topped the Eagles.
Mark Gasperini had 16 points and Sa’eed Nelson added 14 for American (5-18, 2-10).
COLGATE 55, NAVY 52: In Hamilton, N.Y., Jordan Swopshire scored 13 points as the Raiders (8-17, 6-6 Patriot League) snapped the Midshipmen’s eight-game winning streak. Shawn Anderson led the Midshipmen (13-11, 8-4) with 12 points.
FLORIDA A&M 71, HOWARD 62: Sesmond Williams scored 20 points to lead the Rattlers (6-16, 4-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) over the Bison in Tallahassee. Damon Collins and James Mitchell scored 14 points apiece for Howard (5-18, 2-6).
GW women win at La Salle
Lexi Martins scored 22 points, Caira Washington added 21 and Hannah Schaible had 14 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists as George Washington (15-8, 8-3 Atlantic 10) topped La Salle, 79-65, in Philadelphia.
Amy Griffin scored 23 points for the Explorers (14-9, 7-4).
AMERICAN 70, LEHIGH 58: Emily Kinneston scored 19 points and Lauren Crisler added 18 to pace the Eagles (11-11, 8-3 Patriot League) in Bethlehem, Pa.
Quinci Mann had 15 points for the Mountain Hawks (7-15, 2-9).
FLORIDA A&M 55, HOWARD 51: Shalaunda Burney-Robinson scored 15 points to help the Rattlers (7-15, 5-4 MEAC) over the Bison in Tallahassee. Erin Blaine had 13 rebounds and 11 points for Howard (10-10, 6-2).
COLGATE 69, NAVY 61: Kateri Stone scored 15 points to pace the Raiders (8-14, 5-6 Patriot League) in Annapolis. Sarita Condie had 19 points Navy (16-6, 9-2), which had won nine in a row.
