The Washington Post Sunday - - COMMUTER - — Patricia Sullivan

The Arlington County Board agreed Saturday to advertise a property tax rate increase of no more than 2 cents per $100 of assessed value to help pay for school enrollment growth and Metro.

The board won’t actually set the rate until later this spring, after working through the budget and holding a public hearing.

The board also agreed to set a March 30 public hearing on raising its pay by 3.5 percent, about the same amount county employees are due to receive under the county manager’s proposed budget. The board has not had a pay raise in four of the last six years. The proposal would increase the salaries of most members to $53,282.
