More data: Equinix, a Red­wood City, Calif.-based data cen­ter com­pany, pur­chased four parcels span­ning 34.5 acres near its Ash­burn, Va., data cen­ter cam­pus in Loudoun County. The com­pany al­ready op­er­ates 10 data cen­ters in the area serv­ing more than 850 com­pa­nies. Un­plug­ging: The con­sumer elec­tron­ics re­tailer Hh­gregg is clos­ing nearly a dozen stores in the Wash­ing­ton area as part of its de­ci­sion to re­duce the size of the chain na­tion­ally. The clo­sures in­clude Vir­ginia stores in Spring­field, Ster­ling, Fairfax, Bai­leys Cross­roads, Wood­bridge and Manas­sas, and Mary­land stores in Largo, Wal­dorf, Rockville, Fred­er­ick and An­napo­lis. Team­ing up: GTL, a Re­ston, Va.based provider of cor­rec­tional tech­nol­ogy and pay­ment ser­vices for gov­ern­ment, has ac­quired In­ner­tain­ment De­liv­ery Sys­tems, a provider of in­mate ed­u­ca­tion sys­tems in the United States. Fi­nan­cial terms were not dis­closed.
