Vic­tims of 2011 Ja­pan quake, tsunami re­mem­bered:

Fam­ily mem­bers and friends of­fered prayers for the vic­tims of the Great East Ja­pan Earth­quake on the sixth an­niver­sary of the dis­as­ter. Memo­ri­als were held in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima pre­fec­tures, which were all dev­as­tated by the pow­er­ful tsunami that fol­lowed the quake on March 11, 2011. The dis­as­ter claimed the lives of 18,446 peo­ple, of whom 15,893 were con­firmed dead and 2,553 re­main un­ac­counted for.
