Harper not in lineup for second day in row
Bryce Harper was not in the Nationals’ lineup Saturday against the host Philadelphia Phillies for the second straight game because of a sore left groin.
Manager Dusty Baker said Harper is better, but he opted, as he usually does with players, to give his star right fielder an extra day off. Baker added he wasn’t sure if Harper would be available as a pinch hitter.
“There’s potential for tomorrow, but we’ ll see,” Baker said. “I don’t need to let the opposition know.”
Rafael Bautista started in right field in Harper’s place. It was the 24-year-old’s first career start in the majors. He was called up to replace Adam Eaton on the roster last weekend.
