The Washington Post Sunday - - SUNDAY OPINION -

“Why shrink the big tent?,” Christine Emba created a false distinction between abortion rights and progressive economic and social justice. The constitutional right to choose when and whether to parent is central to economic and social justice for women, and the elimination of barriers to exercising that right, including bans on abortion-care coverage, is central to a progressive vision of the United States in which women are truly equal. There has always been a diversity of personal views about abortion among Democrats, but fidelity to a platform that supports women’s reproductive rights, LGBT rights, racial justice and other core rights must be the bottom line for any truly progressive movement.
