Failure to lead on climate

The Washington Post Sunday - - SUNDAY OPINION -

The July 6 editorial “A global warning to the G-20” discussed the current effects of climate change while noting that they appear greater than predicted and that the rate of accumulation of greenhouse gases was also accelerating faster than predicted. Missing was the “What now?” part.

The world must recognize global warming’s impact and take action to deal with the sea-level rises and more severe weather and climate. This action must go beyond turning to electric cars and renewable energy. The actions must protect the population from sea-level increases and local flooding and recognize the changing distribution of food production.

The failure of the mainstream media and policymakers to deal with the unpleasant truth is a failure to lead or to even identify the path forward.
