Man is fatally shot in Georgetown
One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting in Georgetown early Saturday, according to D.C. police.
The shooting happened in the 3500 block of Water Street shortly before 3 a.m., police said.
Kennedy Javier AmayaOlivares, 19, of Severn, Md., died at the scene, police said. A second victim, whose name has not been disclosed, was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
No arrests were made in connection with the shooting, and police did not comment on a possible motive.
The shooting occurred on a street below the Whitehurst Freeway and the Key Bridge nearby popular boathouses for canoeing, kayaking and rowing and close to the Capital Crescent Trail used daily by runners, hikers and cyclists.
