Crash in Alexan­dria kills a pas­sen­ger

One per­son was killed and an­other was in­jured in a crash early Satur­day morn­ing in the 300 block of South Henry Street in Alexan­dria, po­lice said.

An ini­tial in­ves­ti­ga­tion by Alexan­dria po­lice in­di­cated that the crash oc­curred at ap­prox­i­mately 3:11 a.m. when Si­mon Pe­dro Urbino-Vasquez, a 27-year-old Fair­fax County res­i­dent, lost con­trol of his ve­hi­cle while south­bound on South Henry Street. Two pas­sen­gers were also in the ve­hi­cle.

Po­lice said Urbino-Vasquez sus­tained mi­nor in­juries and re­fused med­i­cal treat­ment. He has been charged with DUIre­lated ve­hic­u­lar man­slaugh­ter and is be­ing held with­out bond, po­lice said.

Killed in the crash was a 24year-old Sil­ver Spring res­i­dent. An­other 24-year-old, of Fair­fax County, was taken to a hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries, po­lice said. The name of the de­ceased was be­ing with­held so that next of kin could be no­ti­fied.
