Tal­iban kills 12 at po­lice out­post:

Tal­iban fight­ers laid siege to po­lice out­posts in south­ern Hel­mand prov­ince, killing at least 12 po­lice of­fi­cers, ac­cord­ing to an Afghan of­fi­cial. At­taullah Afghan, a mem­ber of the Hel­mand pro­vin­cial coun­cil, said Satur­day that mem­bers of the Tal­iban at­tacked po­lice out­posts in Nawa dis­trict overnight. He said the death toll was 12 po­lice of­fi­cers killed and 12 oth­ers wounded. In a state­ment, the Tal­iban said it cap­tured two se­cu­rity posts in Nawa dis­trict, killing 25 lo­cal and na­tional po­lice. It was not pos­si­ble to in­de­pen­dently con­firm the con­flict­ing re­ports.
