De­fen­dants to wear uni­forms in Turk­ish courts:

Sus­pects of ter­ror­ism or coup par­tic­i­pa­tion in Turk­ish courts will be made to wear spe­cial uni­forms when they ap­pear in court, Pres­i­dent Re­cep Tayyip Er­do­gan said af­ter a de­fen­dant showed up for trial last month with a T-shirt that said “Hero.” De­fen­dants ac­cused of be­ing in­volved in last year’s failed mil­i­tary coup will wear jump­suits, and ter­ror­ism sus­pects will wear spe­cific jack­ets and pants. More than 50,000 peo­ple have been de­tained and 150,000 peo­ple sus­pended in a crack­down fol­low­ing the coup.
