The GOP’s campaign against voters

The Washington Post Sunday - - SUNDAY OPINION -

Two cheers for the July 31 editorial “The man who may disenfranchise millions,” about Republican plans to disenfranchise likely Democratic voters in states Republicans control. The situation is even more alarming than the editorial board indicated because Republicans already control the legislatures in 32 states and are clearly determined to impose even more restrictions designed to reduce Democratic votes.

The liberal blog ThinkProgress estimated that in 2016 in Wisconsin, North Carolina and Florida, which voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and which Hillary Clinton lost, nearly 2 million people were disenfranchised by Republican restrictions on voting.

Apparently for Republicans, winning is everything. Democracy is for losers.
