The Washington Post Sunday - - TAKING STOCK -

New name: Harris’s former government-services business has a new name: Peraton. The Herndon-based business was acquired by the private equity firm Veritas Capital earlier this year. The new name is a “construct of the prefix ‘per,’ which means ‘thoroughly,’ and the word ‘imperative,’ reflecting the importance of customers’ missions,” the company said in a statement. New at the top: Dan Mathews has been named commissioner of the General Services Administration’s Public Buildings Service, overseeing the agency’s real estate portfolio. He previously served as Republican staff director for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s subcommittee on economic development, public buildings and emergency management. Expanding: Merkle, the Columbiabased marketing agency, has added operations in India after acquiring digital marketing firm Sokrati. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
