Pharoah and Noah

The Washington Post - - HEALTH & SCIENCE -

Unusually well-preserved mosaics, recently uncovered in the ruins of a 5th-century synagogue in northern Israel, depict two biblical stories: the parting of the Red Sea, above, showing Pharoah’s soldiers drowning and being eaten by fish, and, at left, pairs of animals in Noah’s Ark. Archaeologists said the mosaic scenes uncovered at Huqoq, where digs have been underway since 2012, are quite rare, and similar ones have been found at only a few other ancient sites.
