Bills trade Watkins and Darby in shake-up
The Buffalo Bills shook up their roster with two blockbuster trades Friday, dealing wide receiver Sammy Watkins to the Los Angeles Rams and acquiring wide receiver Jordan Matthews from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for cornerback Ronald Darby.
The Bills acquired cornerback E. J. Gaines from the Rams.
Buffalo also continued stockpiling 2018 draft picks by getting a second-round selection from Los Angeles and a third-rounder from Philadelphia. The Bills dealt a sixth-round pick to the Rams as part of the Watkins trade.
DOLPHINS: Quarterback Ryan Tannehill will have surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will miss the entire season, a person familiar with the decision said.
The person confirmed the decision on the condition of anonymity. Tannehill will be placed on injured reserve, the person said.
Also, rookie linebacker Raekwon McMillan will miss the entire season with a torn ACL in his right knee, a person familiar with the situation said. The person confirmed that diagnosis on the condition of anonymity.
RAVENS: Quarterback Joe Flacco, making good progress from a back injury, will soon return to practice but won’t play in a preseason game, Baltimore announced.
Also, offensive lineman Alex Lewis will miss the 2017 season with a shoulder injury and rookie wide receiver Tim White will have season-ending surgery on his thumb, the team said.
JAGUARS: Jacksonville has released left tackle Branden Albert, making him a free agent.
The Jaguars and Albert had been locked in a stalemate over how the sides would part ways after the 32-year-old retired and then told the team he changed his mind.
BRONCOS: Nose tackle Billy Winn will miss the 2017 season with a right knee injury, a person with knowledge of the diagnosis said. The person, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Winn tore ligaments in his right knee, including the ACL.
