Zimbabwe court acquits activist charged with subversion:

The Washington Post - - THE WORLD -

A pastor who led large antigovernment rallies in Zimbabwe last year has been acquitted of subversion, and he appealed to the country’s new leadership to drop other prosecutions of people who demonstrated against Robert Mugabe. Mugabe resigned as president Nov. 21 after the military moved in and the ruling party turned against him. Evan Mawarire was found not guilty after the court ruled that state prosecutors had failed to prove their case. The ruling came as Zimbabweans wait to see whether new President Emmerson Mnangagwa follows through on pledges of democracy.
