Driver flee­ing traf­fic stop crashes at D.C. line

Sev­eral peo­ple were hurt Sun­day af­ter­noon when a driver flee­ing a traf­fic stop in Prince Ge­orge’s County was in­volved in a crash with a Metrobus at the D.C. bor­der, au­thor­i­ties said.

Prince Ge­orge’s po­lice said an of­fi­cer tried to stop the car at about 4:15 p.m., but the driver fled to­ward the Dis­trict. Po­lice spokesman Cpl. Mike Ro­driguez said the car wasn’t stolen or in­volved in a crime, so the of­fi­cer didn’t pur­sue. How­ever, mo­ments later, the car was in a crash at the in­ter­sec­tion of Penn­syl­va­nia and South­ern av­enues in South­east.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Lon Walls said six peo­ple were in­jured, in­clud­ing one adult who sus­tained lifethreat­en­ing in­juries. Metro of­fi­cials
